In northeastern India, the party must choose its alliance where it is weak. Mr. Gandhi should also remember that India is in an era of the collation selection policy as such the Congress under his guidance should be broad minded enough to give space for its alliance partners, looking down into the ground realities well.
It would be advisable for Mr. Gandhi to be a realist and judge the ground realities well and not get carried away by the hype of the party members. Mr. Gandhi will have to judge reality good for, as he had to travel to the nook and corner of the country. Mix and interact with the poor and illiterate masses of far flung areas and get the pulse of the people. It's time for him to know the ground realities well if he has to mature as a hard-baked, rough and tough politician of future India. Its time for him to get out of his marble palace and his AC car and discard the rag top, and speaks the language of the masses.
Rahul Gandhi must also remember that 2009 is the real test for him, and he has to deliver beautifully for his party if he is to maintain itself in Indian politics. He should remember that 2009 is the semi-final round for him and not the last round, he should not dream of the post of Prime Minister ship in 2009. If he delivers in 2009, so there's no stopping him becoming prime minister in India in 2014, the Congress Party wins the election then. It is this reality that Mr. Gandhi should remember.
